London Weekends: Angel + Soho (The Breakfast Club + TAP Coffee)

During the weekends we get to know the non-turistic London. M. doesn't work during weekends and I try to remain away from the school library. We have a long list of places to visit, the hidden London I've never visited before as a tourist (and I have been to London hundred times). We also have a long list of cafes, vintage shops, markets, exhibitions and concerts we want to visit.
This Saturday we choose the famous Breakfast Club from our "food porn" list. I don't really know why but from all their restaurants we choose the one at Angel. Good choice. Angel is just amazing area. This is the first time I went to there and I am in love! I don't really know why I've never been here before, it is so close to my uni. All the cute vintage shops, cafes, restaurants, art shops. Beautiful. Well, M. got bit bored after few minutes wondering around all of the antique shops.
On Sunday, we went to the British Museum, the last day of two great exhibitions - the Buddhism in Burma and witches and wicked bodies paintings. And of course, we have to spend some time in the Japan and China sections.
I had 3 professional baristas with me so we simply had to end up in a cafe. Kit took us to TAP Coffee, close to Oxford Street. Simply brilliant!

O víkendu poznáváme Londýn z té neturistické stránky. M. o víkendu nepracuje a já se o víkendu vyhýbám knihovně, takže máme volno. Máme celkem velký seznam míst, kam musíme zajít. Takový ten ukrytější Londýn, který jsem nikdy jako turistka nepoznala a to jsem tu byla stand stokrát. Taky máme dluhý seznam kaváren, sekáčů, marketů, výstav, koncertů a jiných akcí, na které se chystáme. 

V sobotu jsme si odškrtli Breakfast club, celkem proslulou síť restaurací. Z jejich několika poboček jsme náhodně vybrali tu v oblasti Angel. A musím říct, že Angel je překrásné místo. Ani nevím, proč jsem tu nebyla už dřív, od školy to mám pár minut. Jeden roztomilý krámek vedle druhého. Vintage shopy a markety, kavárny, restaurace, umělecké ateliéry. Krása pro oko, ne už tolik pro peněženku. M. se začal po pár minutách courání po anticích pořádně nudit! 

V neděli jsme skončili v British Muzeu, kde rozvna končily dvě výstavy, jedna zajímavější než druhá - čarodějnictví a buddhismus v Bramě. Mimo to jsme nemohli vynechat japonskou a čínskou sekci. 

A jelikož jsem s sebou měla tři profesionální baristy, nemohlo to zůstat bez kafe. Kit nás vzal do TAP Coffee, kousek od Oxford Street. Jednoduše geniální! 

THE BREAKFAST CLUB

The Breakfast Club was on my must-go list for a while. I spend quit a long time reading their menu and I googled pics of all the delicious stuff. I simply needed the apple and cinnamon French toast. So badly! To go to BC on Saturday, for a brunch, is not a good idea. This is probably the busiest time you can choose. Thanks God, Angela, a friend of ours, got there first and joined the waiting queue. And thanks God for the short heavy shower that made all the people change their minds about waiting outside. After half an hour of waiting, we got in. And it was worth the waiting, it was just delicious. 

We had tea with milk and mint tea. Well, they use the Union coffee, but the way they make it did not really looked good for us (nothing against BK, it is still a restaurant, not a speciality cafe, right?). I got my delicious French toast with apples and cinnamon. Btw, the banana French toast with bacon looked pretty good, too. M. had the Huevos Rancheros, fried eggs, tortilla with melted cheddar, refried beans, chorizo, salsa, sour cream and guacamole. 

The meals were ready in few minutes, the size of the portions was more than good and the prices were London prices. My new favourite place.

Breakfast Club byl dlouho na mém seznamu míst, která v Londýně nesmím vynechat. Udělala jsem tu chybu, že jsem doma do detailu prozkoumala jejich menu a dokonce si jednotlivé pochutiny i googlila. Byla jsem posedlá french toastem a nuteně jsme tam museli vyrazit. Jít na sobotní brunch není dobrý nápad, je to ten nejvíce busy čas, který si člověk může vybrat. Díky bohu, Angela, která šla s námi, byla na místě dřív a zafrontovala se, než jsme dorazili. Krom toho se spustil nefalšovaný londýnský slejvák a spousta lidí čekání venku vzdala. Po půl hodince čekání jsme se dostali na řadu. A stálo to za to čekání! 

K snídani anglický čaj s mlékem (Kávu jsme nezkoušeli. Sice používají výběrový Union, ale po okouknutí nám nepřišla příprava nijak lákavá), M. mátový. Já si hned dala můj vysněný smažený toast s jablky a skořicí, což byla takový vytuněná smažená žemlovka. Mimochodem, smažený toast s banány a slaninou taky vypadal báječně. M. je na slané snídaně a tak si dal vajíčka, fazole a chorizo v tortile se slasou, smetanou a guacamole. Jídlo bylo na stole za pár minut, porce byly obří a ceny londýnské. Můj nový oblíbený podnik.

I simply love TAP Coffee. Great atmosphere, nice music and friendly staff. Just by the entrance they try to make you buy some cake. And they were successful, I ended up getting a delicious cheesecake with blueberries and lemon. Flat white was really good with nice latte art. Boys got filter coffee, of course. M. choose the Nicaragua one. And as he said, it was even more delicious after it got cold. 

This a place you have to visit. If you find seats. This is not a small cafe, but really busy.

Z TAP Coffee jsem nadšená. Výborná atmosféra, skvělá hudba, přátelská obsluha. Hned u vchodu se vás snaží nalákat na nějaký zákusek. Což se povedlo, vybrala jsem si borůvkovo-citronový cheesecake a olizovala jsem se až za ušima. Flat white výborný, latte art na jedničku. Kluci skončili jak jinak než na filtru. Ten den byla na výběr Etiopie, Nikarague nebo Rwanda. Nikaragua byla lahodná a jak říká M., ještě lepší až zcela vychladla. 

Jednoznačně stojí za návštěvu, když zrovna najdete místo k sezení. Ne že by to byla malá kavárna, ale je zde celkem rušno.
