Our first trip of 2015! Our beloved Brighton was amazing as usual. M. is a barista now, a professional. We were never so much into coffee as now. So, a must do in Brighton for us was to visit some speciality cafes there. A there are many in Brighton. We had recommendations for Mr Wolfe, Coffee @33, Small Batch, Ground, Marwood and of course Taylor Street Barista, Michael's cafe. And many others, check the list here.
First we went to Mr Wolfe, but fore some reasons they closed earlier that day. Plan B was Coffee@33 (read here).
Second on the list, and the last, as we spent most of the weekend on the countryside, was Marwood Cafe. I wanted to visit this place so badly. After some Google search, I felt in love with the design. BUT! I was never more disappointed with a cafe. Yes, I read the reviews before, but I simply did not want to believe what people said. They were right. Really cool place, amazing design! I mean, they have Boba Fett with Heisenberg on his head and Millennium Falcon on the table (Oh, I wanted to steal that one so badly), come one! This place showed me that design is not everything. Yes, I would sit here all day, with a book or group of friends, it was really comfy place. And the coffee and the food was pretty good. BUT! The staff? Looking cool is not everything. People were right, these guys were not happy having guests around. What was worst, barista was not really able to tell us the origin of the coffee and lady on the till was not able to tell us more about the food. Simply "Well, this is sweet, this is savoury." Ok, thank you very much.
Anyway, the place itself stays in my mind, it simply looked great...

Náš první výlet v roce 2015! Náš milovaný Brighton byl úžasný jako vždy. M. pracuje jako barista, profesionál. Nikdy jsme nebyli tolik do kávy jako teď. Takže, úkol je jasný - navštívit [spešl] kavárny. V Brightonu jich není málo. Měli jsme doporučení na Mr Wolfe, Coffee @33, Ground, Marwood a samozřejmě Taylor Street Barista, kde M. pracuje. plus spousta dalších, podívejte se na ty nej tady.
Nejprve jsme zamířili do Mr Wolfe, ale z nějakého důvodu ten den zavírali dřív. Plán B byl Coffee@33 (čtěte zde).
Další na našem seznamu, a bohužel poslední, protože jsme většinu víkendu trávili na venkově, bylo Marwood cafe. Do téhle kavárny jsem nutně potřebovala jít. Když jsem ji googlila, hned jsem se zamilovala do jejího designu. ALE! Nikdy jsem z kavárny nebyla takhle zklamaná. Jo, četla jsem ohlasy, ale jednoduše jsem nechtěla věřit tomu, co lidé psali. Měli recht. Je to cool místo s úžasným designem. Mají tam Boba Fetta s Heisenbergem na hlavně a Millennium Falcon na stolku (ten jsem vážně měla chuť odnést). Jenže on design není vše, jak se ukázalo. Ano, dokázala bych tady sedět celý den, s knihou nebo bandou přátel, jak tady bylo útulno. A kafe a jídlo bylo dobré, o tom žádná. ALE! Obsluha? Vypadat cool není vše. Lidi měli pravdu, tahle obsluha nebyla nadšená z přicházejících hostů. Co hůř, barista ve speciality kavárně nebyl schopen říct původ kávy, kterou podával a slečna za barem nám poradila s jídlem slovy: "No, tohle je slané a tohle je sladké..." Tak tedy děkuji pěkně.
Tak jako tak, tahle kavárna zůstává v mé paměti, prostě vypadala stylově...
